バイトの帰りに寄席に通う日が続く。
　ある日健太はモデルをやらないかと街を歩いて声をかけられた。
オーディションで、
「将来の夢は」
　と聞かれ、
「お笑いタレントになりたい」
　と言うと審査委員は、
「おもしろい青年だ。素晴らしい夢がある」
　と気に入ってくれたのだった。
健太はモデルのオーディションに合格したのである。

健太はある大阪系のお笑いが売りの会社のオーディションを受けて見事に落ちた。
「まあ、おれはこの会社好きではないから」
　こうやって自分自身を慰めた。
事実、高校生の頃から、
「この大阪のお笑いの会社は日本のお笑いをだめにする」
　健太はこう広言していたのだ。
この意見は健太だけではない。若者のみんなが腹の底でこう思っているのだ。だが巨大な権力には逆らえない。
「いつか自分の納得の行くお笑いを確立してやる」
　ある居酒屋でこのオーディションを落ちた日に健太は一人自分でビールを注いだ。
「今日はおめでたい日だ。門出を祝って乾杯」
　心の底でこう自分に言い聞かせてビールを飲み干した。

　健太は大学四年生だ。本来なら就職が決まっていなければいけないところだが自分に見合った職を探す事はできなかった。
「どうやって生きてゆこう。生きて行くあてがない」
　夜寝ていると何度も不安になり目が覚める。
ある時何気なくテレビを見ていて健太はお笑い番組が面白くない事を再認識したのだった。
「現代の日本に必要なのは本当のお笑いだ。お笑いのためのお笑いはもうごめんだ。そうだおれはお笑いタレントを目指そう」
　健太はこう決意したのである。
両親が反対するのも聞かずアルバイトでためた貯金をもって家を出たのだった。
